Special emphasis is placed on Connecticut clockmaking. Situated in the National Register's Historic District of "Federal Hill." Open daily 10 - 5, Mar. 28 – Nov. 30. Black Rock

Thomaston. Rte. 6. The name "Black Rock" is derived from graphite that was mined here by early settlers. 96 campsites, concession, flush toilets, water, showers, picnicking, field sports, swimming, ice skating, pond and stream fishing, hiking on blue blazed Mattatuck Trail, x-country skiing. Leatherman Cave from park proceed west on Rte. 6 for 0.5 mi, park at Mattatuck Trail Marker. Alcohol Prohibited. Charge: daily. Campground Office: (860) 283-8088 (Weekends only - 3rd Sat. Buttermilk Falls

Trails lead to scenic vistas. White Rock's (jct. Rte. 262 and 6 in Plymouth take Rte. 262 for. 3.4 mi. and park in unmarked pull off on right.) blue blazed trail leads to views of Naugatuck River and Rte. 8. Enter Greystone (jtc. Rte. 262 and Rte. 6 in Plymouth take Rte. 262 south for 4.9 mi. to trailhead) through barred gate, cross bridge and follow the blue blazes to the summit that has views of the Naugatuck River Valley and Waterbury. Mountain biking and hiking.
